Encourage urban food production

Why? The US is so fortunate to have a plentiful supply of fresh, safe food. Study after study shows that organic/locally grown food is not necessarily safer (a specific sampling of fruits and vegetables throughout SLC grocery stores are safe--containing no more than the recommended safe levels of insecticide on them, easily removable by rinsing in water, and wiping off/peeling before use. Why are we trying to put farmers out of business to increase a supply of what will mostly be inferior produce grown in mostly funky urban farms. I won't be buying any of it!

Salt Lake City is currently adopting regulations for Urban farms, community gardens, seasonal farm stands, and accessory structures such as greenhouses, cold frames, and hoop houses. Check out the proposed regulations and offer you comments on Salt Lake City's Open City Hall. http://www.slcgov.com/opencityhall
