Loved the hands on development finances seminar. Would like to see more hands on sessions/workshops.

"Push" positive info to the public about projects and issues.
"push" info to public through twitter, news agencies, facebook, news letters, emails, etc. We have recently set up city youtube channel with hopes to post short videos of projects and issues to push info to the public in new format. Linked to city web site.

Neighborhood meetings W/ social media.
Several meetings divided into council district areas. This was done to solicit feedback on new general plan.
We also provided online surveys via the city's Facebook and twitter pages.

Ask the public to submit issue specific ideas rather than feedback on the overall project. (E.g. How should we screen this hideous use?)
People are problem solvers by nature. If you give them an issue they will give you answers. If asked to respond generally about a project the most frequent response will be emotional/subjective in nature rather than objective.
Or you can tell the public that the meeting is private and they are not allowed. Then everyone will be curious and show up to the meeting just to demand that they be let in. Reverse psychology works every time.8 votes -
